Mini 4WD REV Series No.1

AERO AVANTE (AR CHASSIS)

Length: 155 mm. Image shows painted and assembled kit.

Rev It Up With Aero
2012 marks the 30th anniversary of Tamiya's Mini 4WD products and the new REV Series has been launched to commemorate this milestone. The first machine in this series is the Aero Avante and as the name implies, the body features an aerodynamic-themed redesign of the iconic Avante. The chassis itself has also been engineered with aerodynamics in mind, with the monocoque main frame featuring a ground-effect design with channels to ensure smooth air flow.

Avante Pedigree
The Mini 4WD Avante Jr. has its roots in the high-performance R/C 4WD racing buggy Avante. The body design features a wedge-shaped nose section, sleek body lines, and a large rear wing, and these features had been carried over to other variants such as the Super Avante, Avante Mk.II, and Avante X. The latest design to incorporate this Avante pedigree is the Aero Avante.

Ground-Hugging Form
The ground-hugging body features curved surfaces and air intakes to help provide heat dissipation. The nose section incorporates bargeboards to remove air vortices produced by the front wheels while the large rear wing has a distinctive shape to reduce drag.

  • ■Aerodynamic AR Chassis
New chassis has been designed to offer durability, customizability, and ease of maintenance, which are all vital ingredients for a successful Mini 4WD racer.
  • ■Removable Under Panel
While pushing side buttons, slide the panel toward the front end to detach. This enables speedy battery changes.
  • ■Removable Diffuser
While pushing the button at the rear of the diffuser, lift up to detach. This grants access to the motor and gears.
  • ■Diffuser Effect
Coupled with the smooth airflow under the chassis, the diffuser helps give a Venturi effect to allow the machine to hug the surface of the track.
  • ■Motor Cooling Intake
In addition to intakes near the cockpit, intakes on the sides of the chassis channel air to effectively cool the motor.
  • ■Battery Cooling Intake
Air which passes through this nose intake cool the batteries before exiting the outlet at the rear of the machine.
  • ■Plastic Bearings
Unlike previous Mini 4WD chassis, the AR chassis does not use eyelets for the axle shafts. Instead low-friction plastic bearings provide smooth rotation and also saves weight.
  • ■Rear Skid Bar
This bar makes contact with the track surface at sloped sections, slowing the machine to prevent it from flying off the track.
  • ■Impressive Design
Kit comes with six 13mm low-friction rollers and a total of 33 screw attachment positions enables plenty of customization possibilities.
