The former Soviet Union jet bomber, the Ilyushin IL-28, was first deployed in 1950 and was later adopted by nations of the Warsaw Pact. Boasting a 3-ton armament-payload and capable of carrying tactical nuclear weapons, the IL-28 saw action in the Middle East and Nigeria in the late 1960's.

The supersonic jet fighter, the MiG 21, was developed by the former Soviet Union with production numbers reaching more than 10,000 aircraft. Deployed to the Vietnam War and the 1967 War in the Middle East, the MiG 21 fought against American F-4 Phantom, F-105D Thunder Chief and Israeli Mirage III.

The Mirage jet fighter featuring delta wings was developed by French aviation company Dassault. The first production model was called III C with official deployment starting in 1961. Boasting a maximum speed of Mach 2.2, the Mirage III was used by the Israeli Air Force in 1967 when fighting against Mig 21 and Su-7 used by the Arab nations.

Japanfs F-4EJ Phantom II was deployed to all 6 JASDF squadrons in the 1970's. Based on the U.S. Air Force's F-4E, 140 F-4EJ planes were produced for the JASDF. The F-4EJ featured a 20mm Vulcan canon affixed under the nose, and AIM-7E Sparrow and AIM-9L Sidewinder missiles.

The Intruder A-6A was developed as the first all-weather carrier-based fighter of the U.S. Air Force. First deployed in 1963, it was adopted by actual operational units from as early as 1965. Production of the early model reached close to 500 aircraft, with the early model widely used during the Vietnam War for night attack operations.

The U.S. Navy carrier-based fighter, the Corsair A-7, made its maiden flight in 1965. Two years later, the A-7A, which was stationed on the carrier USS Ranger, engaged in action in the Vietnam War. Other A-7 models produced include the B, C, E, and D, seeing the A-7 continue to serve until the early 1990's.

The British RAF's Lightning F.Mk.6 interceptor features a unique two vertically mounted engine layout. Late version F.6 were equipped with an upgraded engine and extra fuel tanks on top of the wings. The Lightning undertook air defense service for more than 20 years, retiring in 1988.

The supersonic fighter MiG 19 was unveiled to the world by the former Soviet Union in 1955 at the Tushino air show. She was later also used by Nations of the Warsaw Pact during interception operations. With durable structure and excellent performance, the MiG 19 became the cornerstone for subsequent MiG fighter jets.

Developed as a light tactical fighter for NATO countries, the Fiat G91 was valued highly for its efficiency. After its first flight in 1956 in Italy, the G91 was adopted by West Germany and Portugal. The Fiat G91 was well known due to being employed by the Italian aerial acrobatic team from 1962 to 1982.
