This is an assembly kit of the Shimakaze, a 3,000 ton destroyer completed in 1941 that was equipped with a 7,500hp steam turbine, enabling a top speed of 40.9 knots and making it the fastest destroyer in the world at the time. The model depicts the ship as she appeared in the latter half of 1944 with increased armament. The three twin 12.7cm gun turrets and three quintuple torpedo launchers are all highly detailed, and the model comes with die-cast hull inserts to provide a greater sense of weight and presence. |
