1/35 U.S. Medium Tank M4 Sherman Early Production (Finished Model)
The Driving Force Behind Allied Victory
With approximately 50,000 units produced during WWII, the U.S. Army's Sherman series of tanks were one of the main driving forces behind Allied victory. The Sherman displayed excellent reliability and mobility, and although armed with a relatively small gun, the advantage of efficient mass production and easy modification more than sufficiently compensated. Among the many variants produced, the early production M4 featured a 60deg. angular shaped welded hull and a cast turret loaded with a 75mm M3 cannon. M4 tanks often had applique armor welded on later
for extra protection of vulnerable points such as the turret and hull sides. A total of 6,748 early production M4 were produced between July 1942 and January 1944. The M4 Sherman
saw action throughout Europe, including both the Normandy and Italian campaigns.
