【 Soar the skies with the powerful P-51D Mustang 】 The P-51D Mustang which appeared in May 1944, came built with a laminar airfoil and undersurface to minimize air resistance, making it more aero dynamical. For its power, the P-51D packed a supercharged Packard Merlin V1650-7 engine. A teardrop type canopy provided excellent visibility for the pilot, and had six daunting 13.7mm guns at his disposal. Auxiliary drop tanks enabled the Mustang to achieve a continuous flight range up to 3700km, which allowed it to provide U.S. bombers effective protection against the German Me109 and Fw190 interceptors all the way to Germany.
