On December 8, 1941 (Japan Time), six aircraft carriers of the Japanese Navy Mobile Fleet successfully launched the infamous surprise attack on the U.S. Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This historic attack not only altered history, but also helped turn the aircraft carrier and its planes into the most important weapon in naval warfare. Now, three Shizuoka companies have collaborated to bring you all six of the Japanese Navy aircraft carriers that took part in the Pearl Harbor attack in one single 1/700 Scale Waterline Series special assembly kit model set. The Akagi and Kaga were Japan's first true aircraft carriers. The Soryu and Hiryu were refined designs on which later aircraft carriers were based. Finally, the Shokaku and Zuikaku, with their combination of speed, armament, and aircraft capacity, are often regarded as the ideal aircraft design. With all of these models painstakingly researched and accurately reproduced from the waterline and up, modelers can now build and own their own Mobile Fleet. |
