The Red Ball Express was a famous supply operation that started in June 1944 after the Allied invasion at Normandy. With this limited edition set, which includes the U.S. 2 1/2 Ton 6X6 Cargo Truck, Allied Vehicles Accessory Set, fuel pumps, and 3 figures, military modelers will have more ingredients for their dioramas.
【 Background Information 】 Following the landings at Normandy, Allied forces moved swiftly towards Germany. However, supplying the front line troops with food, fuel, ammunition, and other such supplies was a big problem. Enter the Red Ball Express, which used 2 1/2 ton cargo trucks to transport the needed materials from the supply base at Normandy to the front. From summer to autumn of 1944, the 5,400 trucks of the Red Ball Express were used to deliver over 420,000 tons of supplies, thereby sustaining the Allied push towards Germany.【 About the Model 】 The 2 1/2 ton cargo truck features the canvas cabin top that was prevalent at the time. The number of parts for the suspension has been kept under control for easy assembly without sacrificing detail. 6 drum cans, 20 jerry cans, and various other bags and supplies make up a full cargo load. 3 figures in realistic poses, including the driver, add life to the scene. |
