The world's top drivers gathered for the big race "IFMAR ISTC EP On Road Championship". Earning his place among the best of the best was Thai driver Surikarn Chaidajsuriya, who took an impressive victory in the 1/10 Touring Car Class using Tamiya's state-of-the art TRF414M chassis.

This year, the World Championship took place in Mogale City in South Africa. Surikarn Chaidajsuriya and Masayuki Miura competed for Tamiya. Surikarn who ranked 2nd in the preliminary race that took place on the same circuit in April gave valuable feedback to TRF based on his experience. And TRF in turn, showed the R/C works teams of the world a most impressive race performance.

Surikarn who placed 3rd during qualification runs on May 17th and 18th managed to maintain his overall position after the first final round. In the 2nd round, more consistent driving earned him a 2nd place finish right behind opponent Barry Baker from the USA. Then, just after the start of the 3rd round, Surikarn, known for his cool nerve and uncanny focus, took the lead of the race after a brilliant start, overtaking Masami Hirosaka on the first corner and then Barry Baker on the second. Both Baker and Hirosaka put pressure on Surikarn throughout the race, but did so to no avail as refined skill and a superior chassis proved unrelenting till the very end.

TRF414M The World's Master Chassis

The chassis used by Surikan was Tamiya's state-of-the-art belt driven touring machine TRF414M. Developed for one purpose only, to win races, the TRF414M features precision parts that provide a high rate of maneuverability.

Specially prepared for the technical course of the On Road World Championships, TRF staff put the roll center higher than usual. With improved roll, the machine achieved top lap times.
