
| 【 The Red-Tail Angels 】 The "Tuskegee Airmen" was a famous USAAF unit which was made up of African-American pilots during WWII. They formed the 332nd Fighter Group and were firstly deployed to the Mediterranean in June 1943. In the following year, the 332nd FG was deployed to Italy to escort bombers to attack targets in Southern Germany and Eastern Europe. In November 1944, the unit was re-equipped with P-51Ds and in March 1945, they escorted B-17 bombers to Berlin. The unit protected the bombers on this mission as well and earned the trust of the bomber units. |
