Ferrari and Racing
"I just killed my mother," quoted Ferrari Team founder Enzo Ferrari after he defeated Alfa Romeo at the British Grand-Prix of 1951 for Ferrari's first victory. Enzo Ferrari's morbid words of mixed emotion were spoken from the fact that his own racing team had just taken the title from the team that nurtured him and took him from a test driver to a racing driver, and eventually to Director of the Alfa Racing Division. First carving a name for itself at the 1950 F1 World Championships, Team Ferrari reigned supreme 51 years later with its F2001 machine to reach a total of 11 Constructor's Titles. Yet while recent public focus has been on Ferrari's success in the F1 racing scene, Ferrari took three consecutive touring car victories during the years 1962-1964. The years 1952-1967 also marked 12 glorious victories for Team Ferrari in the Sports Car Prototype World Championships, and similar success was met with sports car racing. From looking at the company's history, it is no surprise that through the years the word 'Ferrari' has become almost synonymous with the word 'racing'.

Ferrari's Production Cars
Ferrari crowned its first car in 1947. The Ferrari 125S was a 2-seater racing car that employed a 1.5 liter V12 engine. The 125S won competition after competition, paving the road for Ferrari's fame in the world of racing. Afterwards, Ferrari would try its hand at production models. As with racing car models, the engines and chassis of production cars were all designed in-house. The body design of Ferrari cars was to be put in the hands of the famous designer Battista "Pinin" Farina and his company Carrozzeria Pinin Farina. The relationship between Ferrari and Pinninfarina still lasts to this day. The '84 Testarosa, the F40, the F50, and even the latest production model, the 360 Modena, all had their bodies designed under the name Pininfarina. Within these masterpiece bodies, was contained racing technology made completely under Ferrari's design. Built for optimum racing performance while retaining sleekness and style, Ferrari production models continue to delight sports car fans around the globe.
